Outdoor lighting: wash, accent and path in one layout

Good outdoor lighting is layered: wash the wall, accent the feature, light the path. Here's how the three layers work together.
Layer 1 — Wall washing (ambient)
Moon Drop and Glow Arc wall lights throw a soft wash across a wall or fence, setting the overall brightness. Up-and-down lights like Edge Glow add drama to masonry texture.
Layer 2 — Accent (features)
Spike spots (Terra Spot) uplight trees, sculptures and feature walls. Halo Disc and Light Bar pick out specific corners without flooding the space.
Layer 3 — Path & steps (safety)
Path Beam bollards and step lights mark walking lines — warm 3000K is flattering and doesn't attract insects like cool white does.
Wiring and zones
Run everything on a single transformer with zone switching — one switch for ambient, one for accent. IP65+ rating is essential for exposed VIC weather.
